Venusian Endings & Beginnings

Venus, the shining one that evokes sweet whispers and wails of exaltation, love and desire. Magnetic pulls of Venusian fate crossing heart paths across timeless threads of change. The enchantress that lords over the bounty of our lands, she that devours delectable delights, and dance, and all pleasures of earthly abundance. The definer of treasures, weighing beauty and grace in golden copper coins formed by Earth. Her discerning and etheric tastes inspire regal refinements of home and seductive adornment of body. She that wields the sword of justice, rebalancing relational harmonics and societies’ unseen order.

Our evening Venus has been in its brightest, diamond phase since January, blessing the night skies with her illuminated grace. In her feminine power as the evening star she embodies the Venusian goddesses that permeate cultural myths around the world; Aphrodite, Isis, Ishtar, to name a few. Relaxing into her regal receptivity she seduces us to revel in the more passive pleasures of life. Having turned retrograde on March 1, she is now descending into the dark forest of the night, seeking to reclaim powerful parts of herself that are rightfully hers. She’ll soon completely disappear from the sky as she enters the occulted rays of the Sun, burning away the dross that is no longer resonant with ones evolving self. Relationships, self worth, repressed grudges, outworn value systems and aesthetics are up for big changes these next 42 days and nights.

The spring of 2017 was the last time Venus went on this pilgrimage in the same place of our natal charts, and before that, 2009. Keep this in the back of your mind as this story unfolds for you over the next 6ish weeks, there will most likely be echoes of the past rippling into your current experiences.

As she begins this journey in the cardinal fires of Aries there’s a biting edge to the ways that expressions of ones heart may perfectly misfire. Indiscretions may come to light. Past loves may reappear to finish tying up the threads of what was previously woven together. We’re seeing how money, gold and crypto are all in the midst of potential major reevaluations. The announcement of an audit of Fort Knox’s mysterious gold stash perfectly illustrates Venus in the war tinged sign of Aries, with the treasure of an entire country being guarded in a military installation site. Add in the eclipses and Mercury’s retrograde in the midst of the Venus retrograde, there may be shocking shifts to the ways that values are applied to resources and currencies. After all, for the most part they are Tinkerbell systems, built entirely on structures of belief. Not to say these don’t then have real world effects, they absolutely do. Suffering is part of the process of change. An unfortunate truth in these times. This is an opportunity to reassess personal values connected to tangible resources and skills that are not tied to these mutable whims of man, and how they may yield fruitful benefits for you in the long run. This may be a good time to revisit our recent history of the great depression and take some cues from our ancestors who survived through these times, not to say that this is exactly where we are heading, but there will be skills that have been lost in the last 2 generations that will be very useful to have.

There’s a powerful energetic of endings and beginnings underway not only with the eclipses carrying this energy, but also as Venus, Mercury, Neptune and Saturn will all be crossing back and forth over the final 29th degree of Pisces - the world ender, and the 1st degree of Aries - the world builder, quite soon. Consider that the ruler of the final decan of Pisces (20º - 29º) and the ruler of the first decan of Aries (0º - 9º) is Mars. Mars is that energetic push of willpower to actualize a desire, at times this experience being quite violent and aggressive in its nature. It rules these world ending and beginning zones of the zodiac because it requires a lot of energy to die and a lot of energy to give birth. A wise woman once told me this and it has always stuck with me. Collectively this theme of the old world dying and the new world beginning to emerge will be present for the whole year, but is first presenting itself now with the personal planets of Venus and Mercury making these initial passes across this apocalyptic chasm, with the retrograde jumps backwards into Pisces falling between March 27 - 30. At this same time Neptune makes its first entrance into Aries as Venus starts to re-emerge from her ghost dance with the Sun, starting to rise in the early morning pre-dawn light. Venus’ light will once again continue to grow and dazzle us with her shining grace, reaching her brightest illumination around June 1 in the early morning skies. Take the initiative to bathe yourself in this light in these quiet, magical hours this spring. Meditate or journal directly under her presence, contemplating the ways this retrograde manifested in your life. What has come to a close? What feels ready to emerge? What dreams of the last 14 years have come to form?

Neptune holds the higher frequency of Venus, which is the universal principle of love that is only always aligned with the true operational laws of the divine creator. The broken and limited human interpretations of this energy create the illusions that are problematic. There are a billion paths to god. Neptune moving into Aries is shifting the collective dream into warrior mode, where the ideations of one singular path for all people will lead to some frightful outcomes reminiscent of the crusades. The balancing polarity of Neptune’s ingress into Aries can spark brilliantly creative solutions that can take us on more liberating and adventurous journeys of spirit. Whole dimensions of unknown possibilities may suddenly appear, throwing a wrench in previously established belief systems of reality.

Morning star Venus embodies the archetype of the feminine warrior, associated with Diana, Artemis and Inanna, ready to defend what is rightfully hers and basically not taking any shit after she’s been through the trials that the underworld has brought forth. She is ready to take on the world with a renewed and strengthened sense of self and inner authority. This will really start to build around April 4 as she nears the 25º mark when she makes a several weeks long conjunction with Saturn, that wielder of authoritarian power. This will empower us to take a long hard look at the reality of what energies we are allowing in our relationships, strengthening these boundaries with tough, compassionate love for ourselves. April 12 is the station direct when things should start to feel like they’re starting to come together in the new frequency grid from all of the shake ups.

By April 16 Mercury will be moving forward to fly over the world creation line, with Venus making her final leap into Aries on May 1. There’s an exciting, liberating quality that will permeate the world here, opening new opportunities and relationships, sparking the inspiration to create and dive into experiences head first. The momentum will be palpable, and may be a little overwhelming at times. Carve out time to slow down and integrate all of the possibilities into your body and life, as burning out isn’t helpful to anybody. Saturn and Neptune, the big daddies of collective structures and dreams of consciousness will draw this energy out over the next year in their much slower and longer tectonic shifts back and forth across these potent degrees of Pisces and Aries.

There’s an ocean of grief to be felt in this process as there will be massive waves of letting go necessary. This profound grief may be masked in violent uprisings, shutdowns of heart, locking away of compassion and fiery flaring’s of tempers. Build an awareness of this in your heart and mind to not get lost in the madness and become the monster that you are fighting. Honest evaluations of ones best intentions are most needed now. Can you objectively assess the real life impact that your ideals / intentions / thoughts / actions / communications are having upon yourself, the people around you and your environment? Old world ideologies masquerading as progress aren’t going to cut it anymore. Think about how these systems and patterns of control, manipulation and oppression have operated within yourself against yourself, a sort of auto-immune machination, holding you back from being the full embodiment of who you are meant to be.

By the end of this cosmic gauntlet we’ll emerge energetically refreshed and restyled, from head to toe, and heart to wandering heart. Rose and Reishi may be beautiful plant and mushroom allies to go on this journey with you, strengthening and softening the heart as it tosses and tumbles in the dark, oceanic waves of change.
