Well my body and work demanded a break from writing these past weeks, so am happy to have the space once again to return to writing about the planetary energies. And boy is there material to write about as I’m sure everyone has been feeling in some form or fashion. We’re in the final karmic stretch of the Sun, Venus, Mars and Mercury completing their trek up the mountainous trail of Capricorn’s backbone. The relational planets of Venus and Mars started new cycles here as they passed through the heart of the Sun while in opposition to Jupiter in Cancer, so some endings would be implied here, making space for new structures overseen by a larger organizing force that demands emotional wisdom and compassion. Old ways of relating to emotions of anger and aggression, endurance marathons to achieve big goals, personal ambitions and how ones resources are tied to larger cultural value systems, traditional views of beauty, and foundational shifts in financial pictures have all entered a new structural spiral. While it may feel like we’ve been looped into a lot of old karmic patterns, this past week has offered the opportunity to experience where stagnation and deeper structural supports are still holding one back from making the next dimensional leap on the horizon. This may have been a quite physically painful event as Capricorn deals in tangible tissue matter, the bones of reality. So practical methods that have stood the test of time are the medicine; placing one foot in front of the other, eating and sleeping well, letting go of fanciful ideations of transcending the 3-D world and returning to the ancestral wisdom of survival that has gotten us to this point in human evolution. Jupiter’s oppositional stance to all of this breakdown brings the gift of forcing one to go within to discover where ones inner stability and security is, or where there are missing pieces that need fulfilled by processing pent up emotions, especially those related to scarcity, isolation and belonging. And for most of us tracing these back to early childhood experiences that were the root of these inner conflicts.
Now the Moon will join this stellium of personal planets on Sunday, January 18 for the first New Moon of the Gregorian calendar year of 2026, which I would offer is really the time to set intentions for yourself this year. The skies on this day are in a captivating geometric pattern of unusual harmony that could be put to some great practical use. Not only is this a potent Sun Moon conjunction but we also have a Mercury Mars conjunction just 2º away as well, so your words will be carried on an enduring chariot of fire from the mountaintops to the ears of whatever gods you beseech. Venus has entered Aquarius by this point to begin her conjunction with the raw evolutionary power of Pluto, also just a few degrees away from the action, carrying some exciting potentials for new connections. So Pluto, Venus, the Sun and Moon, Mercury and Mars are all making supportive sextiles with Saturn and Neptune in the last degrees of Pisces, and a harmonic trine to Uranus in the other earthship of Taurus. There is a universal song playing through these spheres and resonating through Earth that we can listen for, align to and bring into our bones to stabilize our energy in what we are wanting to go after. This is a major galactic shift we are in the midst of all winter and spring that is radically changing Earth and how she is holding us as her stewards. Information may be suddenly appear that shows us how to reorganize ourselves to be in a better relationship with her. Boundaries strengthen and get set. Dreams can either land here, if one can take well informed action to embody this energy, or they may contribute to a further splitting into delusional realities. There’s a step down process of taking visions, dreams and intentions and bringing them into matter, bypassing these practically guided steps yields houses built on watery foundations that will eventually be swept away as the waves of change hit. Make sure you’re building this year on solid ground. Contemplate ancient structures that stand to this day.
Capricorn elements you may want to work with:
Mullein, Comfrey, Elderberry, Cedar, Agarikon mushroom
Shungite, Lead, Black Tourmaline, Smoky Quartz, Nuummite
Pyramids, Temples, Mountains, Evergreen tree vortexes, Goats

For further guidance of the energies this week leading up to the New Moon, I present this tarot reading that will carry us into the new structures and foundations of Aquarius season that begins Tuesday, January 20.

The central theme brings us the 5 of Disks with Mercury in Taurus energy. There’s an underlying fear and threat to ones survival that keeps one in a series of mental loops, feeding and amplifying anxiety. This could also be negative, self-defeating thoughts that have kept one in a depressive state of despair and melancholy.
The Tower, Mars, has brought us to this doom loop after breaking apart all of the structures that are impeding ones progress, which makes sense that there’s a period of what the actual fuck is happening to me, after a big cataclysmic shift.
The key is the card above, the 6 of Swords, Mercury in Aquarius that takes a higher perspective outside of ones immediate and earth bound environment to understand everything from a spiritual perspective. Interpreting events with narrow blinders on that don’t take into account the larger groups of humanity one is connected to traps one in this lower, human mind, like a fish that doesn’t have a concept of the water bowl that it lives within. The water in the bowl is its whole world. This is not a dissociative break, but developing an objective view to understand the parts of the collective story that are radically changing ones environment and reality is the ticket. What new stories do you need to hold about and for yourself that will break old patterns of small scale, survival based thinking? Maybe there are some radical ideas that come you to of how you want to start living in a whole new way.
The root of this reading brings the Chariot out, associated with Cancer and the Moon. This is the seat of the spiritual warrior that is not making outward moves, yet, but is deeply focused on consolidating his power and energy in his core. There’s a retreat to feel into how these changes are impacting your energy and body, without any interfering or distracting energies from others. Keeping yourself well nourished will do a lot to settle the anxious energy of your guts and mind. This is the polar balance to Capricorn, so tap into Jupiter’s sage emotional wisdom and have faith that you are progressing even if it feels like nothing is happening.
The Magus / Magician rewards us with his presence as the outcome here. A lot of invisible energy structures are reorganizing to empower us to quickly begin creating the new energetic foundations for the intentions set at the New Moon. Which aligns with the Mercury Sun conjunction at 0º Aquarius, launching us into the ethers of multi-dimensional awareness, communication and all kinds of fun cosmic tricks. Our lives should start to feel lighter, well sort of, since the lord of the Underworld, Pluto awaits everyone’s arrival to Aquarius. So the integrity of the magician is of paramount importance, because any hidden shadowy motivations that do not support the evolution of humanity will receive some lightning bolt corrections that may not ripple into this reality yet, but they will be there in the field awaiting their soul. That said, there will be some exciting light energy that enters that is a welcome change from the weight and harshness of Capricorn’s lessons. Experiment, play, dance and explore new creative outlets to expand the ways that these otherworldly and spiritual ideas can come into form. You are the creator! What a gift.
